US stocks open higher, S&P hits intraday record high
FXStreet (Córdoba) - US stocks advanced Monday, extending last week’s gains with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average at record levels.
The S&P 500 was up 1 point or 0.03% at 1,951, having hit an intraday record of 1,952 right after the open. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 11 points, or 0.06%, to 16,936, having also printed a fresh high of 16,952. The Nasdaq Composite gained 7 points, or 0.15%, to 4,329.
US equities continue to benefit from upbeat nonfarm payrolls. Last Friday the US government reported the economy created 217000 new jobs, in line with expectations.
